The Bentayga Extended Wheelbase

First-class luxury SUV extended by 180 mm.

A Grand Tourer that defines a whole new vehicle class

Bentley is focussing entirely on the well-being of the driver and passengers with a new market launch: a new Grand Touring SUV. The Bentayga Extended Wheelbase is based on the current second generation Bentayga and extends the wheelbase and rear space by an additional 180 mm.

Style and presence

During the bodyshell modifications to the underbody, side panels, doors and roof, Bentley's design team took meticulous care to ensure that the lines and proportions continue to embody Bentley's signature style and presence. The increased wheelbase from 2,995 mm to 3,175 mm results in an overall length of 5,322 mm. The extra length is reflected in the rear doors, which give the impression of a decidedly luxurious rear.

Luxury and comfort

The new Bentley airline-style seats are the most advanced seats ever installed in a car. It offers 22 adjustment options and the world's first automatic climate sensor system with optimised seating position technology. In relax mode, the seat can be folded back by 40 degrees. The front passenger seat is motorised to move forwards and a beautiful, leather-covered footrest folds out from the back of the front passenger seat.

The seat's automatic climate technology recognises the sitter's body temperature and the surface humidity. Based on this, it determines whether the heating, ventilation or both systems should be activated simultaneously to ensure an optimum temperature sensation. The seat posture optimisation system automatically makes minute changes to the seat position and pressure points by monitoring the pressure applied to the entire seat surface. The system can implement 177 individual pressure changes across six completely independent pressure zones, each over a period of three hours. This improves comfort and minimises fatigue during the ride.

Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, commented:

"The Bentayga Extended Wheelbase is our first vehicle designed entirely with the passenger's well-being in mind. No matter which Bentley you drive, you will always get out more relaxed than when you got in. But with the Extended Wheelbase, we've gone one step further, thanks to revolutionary wellness technologies integrated into our unrivalled interior design. Combined with the craftsmanship of the experts at our carbon-neutral factory in Crewe, these advanced features make the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase the ultimate luxury SUV for driver and passengers."

The Bentayga EWB is designed with a particularly sophisticated quilting pattern created using digital technologies. A symmetrical diamond pattern runs from the centre of the seat shoulders at the back of the seat and along the entire length of the doors, emphasising the extended length of the vehicle.

The new interior design of the rear doors also includes unique design options such as the optional metallic overlay of the wood veneer. Using a wafer-thin metal strip just 0.07 mm thick, a sophisticated design is bonded to the surface of the veneer by hand before the section is painted and polished.

New features such as Bentley Diamond illumination (where light shines through the fine perforations in the soft door panels) demonstrate how technology combines with modern craftsmanship to create a contemporary design with luxurious materials. With 24 billion possible trim combinations (and a total number of possible specifications running into the trillions), the rear of the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase offers more customisation options than any other Bentayga before it.

The introduction of electronic all-wheel steering - a first for the Bentayga - ensures that, despite the long wheelbase, none of the dynamic handling is lost. The turning circle has even been reduced by 7 % to 11.8 metres compared to the standard Bentayga. This also ensures that superior handling at high speeds and maximum comfort at low speeds are no longer opposites.
